Story

Ichabod Crane, a nervous and superstitious sort, is the new schoolmaster assigned to Sleepy Hollow, a small town by the Hudson River. He sets his eyes on Katrina, the eldest daughter of rich farmer Baltus Van Tassel. But Katrina is already "claimed" by Brom Bones, the biggest bully in town! As Ichabod woos the fair Katrina, Brom schemes to regain what he considers his rightful place.

Roles

ICHABOD: New school teacher in town. A nervous sort and very superstitious.

BROM BONES: Town bully, but gallant. He is “it” in this town and knows it.

KATRINA VAN TASSEL: A lovely young woman who has captured Brom’s interest.

KRISTINA VAN TASSEL: Katrina’s younger, bratty sister.

HOLLY HAMHOCKS: Villager and friend of Katrina.

ROSE VANDERWELDE: Villager and friend of Katrina.

APRIL SANDERFOOT: Villager and friend of Katrina.

JARVIS WORRY: Village banker.

BALTUS VAN TASSEL: Father to Kristina and Katrina.

SABRINA: A witch.

SAMANTHA: Another witch.

HILDA: A third witch.

End Game: The Roleplay

Summer 2019

Stage and Steel Productions, a Community Theater with an Edge, strives to create unique productions combining theatre, stage combat, audience participation and technology. We accept auditions from all walks of life and any level of experience. Roles are defined as Fighting or Non-Fighting. Actors auditioning for Fighting roles must be 14 years of age or older.  All actors under the age of 18 must have a parents(or legal guardians) peremision.

Actors accepting parts in a Fighting Role will need to learn how to safely use any of the following: a one handed broadsword, two handed broadsword, hand-to-hand combat, pole, dagger, shield, and potentially others. Training is provided.

Audition Dates: June 1st & 2nd from 4pm to 6pm

Auditions are being held by appointment only

What to Expect:

You will need to prepare a modern prepared piece less than 3 minutes in length. Please, no Shakespeare.

There will be a cold read from the script.

End Game: The Roleplay

Story Synopsis

After the loss of a friend, Fred, this group of gamers gather together in his memory. They find out that on his request they are to play a game that he had written for them after he was gone. The players grow and change throughout the game as their game characters live the story for the audience. The game was supposed to be finding a treasure, but leads to another quest, one that leads into danger and darkness. See the connections between the players and their characters, as they all pay homage to the passing of a friend.

Role Descriptions

George: (non-combat) The DM or Story Teller of the group. Has a vast imagination but spends most of his time hiding in the basement with his imaginary friends (the audience) due to a childhood experience. He has the capability of being a good friend, a good leader but he needs to trust the world again.

Chrissy: (non-combat) Generally a level headed player who is cautious and thinks things through. Very patient with the others but is insecure with her own abilities and choices.Secretly likes James but is too afraid to say anything to him.

Mika: (combat) A Cleric in the Order of Light, she has followed her mentor’s every footstep. Now that he is gone and his mantel falls upon her shoulders she must find the courage and strength to stand on her own.

Charlie: (non-combat) A young player who just has bad rolls. A nice guy but doesn’t have many social skills. Follows the group as a groupie since he has never had friends before.

Brandis: (combat) Young naïve character who wants to be a hero, wants to do the right thing, but always seems to fail at it.

Justin: (non-combat) An emotional person who’s impatience often leads him to vocal outbursts.

Adaric: (combat) Rash and impatient, lusts after gold, but when pushed and shoved will do the honorable thing.

James: (non-combat) A selfish self-assured guy who looks out for himself so much that he is blind to everything around him but it is all a shield.

Shakarn: (combat) He is that guy, that guy that talks too much, that guy that thinks of himself too much. Always has some cocky come-back and never forgets to joke – not even when his luck has run out.

Auditions for the next round of one acts will be held at the Ashley Marie Performing Arts Center located at 2850 Weir Ave., Weirton, WV 26062 on May 18th from 11:00am-2:00pm and May 19th from 3:00pm-5:00pm.

No monologues required, just yourself and your schedules. Cold reads will be used.

Show Format: Friday nights are Dinner Theater and Saturday nights are General Admission

Show Times: Fridays - Call is at 5:30pm, Show at 7:30 / Saturday - Call is at 6pm, Show at 8pm

Show Location: THE ASHLEY MARIE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, 2850 WEIR AVENUE WEIRTON, WV, 26062

Rehearsals:

Start March 14th and run every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evening with  times as follows

Tuesdays - 6-9pm Fighting Thursdays - 6-9pm Lines

Sundays - 3-5pm Fighting & 5:30-8pm Full Run

The first rehearsal will be a read-through of the script.

Tech Week starts nightly May 12th thru the 16th & and again on May 23rd.


The King's Other Men:

Story Synopsis

A Kingdom is thrust into turmoil when the King dies before naming an heir. Now the Queen, the Prince, and the King's brother all partake in a tug of war over the crown. The battle becomes even more interesting when the three Daughters, the heirs of the neighboring Kingdom, show up with an old but honorable treaty that states that the crown is theirs. Now, truly, a Royal Battle of the Sexes breaks out with a golden prize awaiting its winner. Drama and farce intertwine in this tale of honor, treachery, and politics.


Roles:

The Kingdom of Rivers

Queen Isabella (F) 1 Fight –Strong character and the Queen. She understands politics and is a bit overprotective of her son. She is the anchor of the cast. – Fighting Role

Prince Henry (M) 3 Fights –the good and honorable Knight, the Kings son - young and inexperienced, naive, he grows into a man, assumes that the crown is his. – Fighting Role

Lord Bellows (M) 4 Fights – the dark Knight who wants the crown, the Kings brother, not honorable and will do what it takes to get what he wants. He is strategic, selfish and fearless, arrogant to a fault , he believes that the crown should be his. – Fighting Role

Lord Winter (M) 3 Fights – Nonchalant but easily persuaded and pushed into taking sides, Coward but has great wisdom. – Fighting Role ( may also be cast as a Non-Fighting role )

Squire Jacob (M) 1-3 Fights – Squire to Lord Winter, Assist all Knights. Not a speaking part but does have stage presence – Fighting Role


The Kingdom of Hillmount

Lord Rudifina (F) 2 Fights – A Knight by skill and right, the eldest daughter, honor bound, level headed to a fault and is tired of always having to prove herself. – Fighting Role

Lord Sophia (F) 1 Fight – A Knight by skill and right, the middle daughter. Laid back, easy going, overconfident, doesn’t worry about consequences. She wants to be like her big sister but doesn’t see why everything is taken so seriously. – Fighting Role

Lord Camilla (F) 2 Fights – A Knight by skill and right, the youngest daughter. Naïve because she has never had to prove herself since she walks the roads that Rudifina has paved. Excited to be away from home, it’s a brand new world. – Fighting Role

The director for this show will be Ralph Parissi who recently starred as John Wilkes Booth in our production of Assassins.

Actors should arrive 10 minutes prior to their scheduled time to fill out paperwork. If available, please, provide a headshot and a theatrical resume. Actors should come prepared with a monologue and 16-32 bars of a song (unless auditioning for a non-singing role).
